A 24-year-old Santa Monica man was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 19 after slashing another man’s fingers with a small knife after an argument escalated at a bar.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department responded at 12:30 am on this day to a bar in the 2400 block of Santa Monica Boulevard regarding a call of an assault with a deadly weapon.
When the officers arrived they found the suspect had been detained outside of the bar.
The victim told the police that another patron of the bar became angry and began to yell at him.
The angry patron was asked to leave by the bartender and the victim took it upon himself to escort the patron out.
On his way out, the suspect swung at the victim with a small knife.
The victim jumped back and put his hands up in defense.
The knife made a small laceration to three of the victim’s fingers.
The suspect was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $30,000.
