For a nonprofit organization keen on “making fundraising fun,” kicking off the year with a mixer at local hangout Bodega Bar was a perfect way to start spreading the word.
Last Tuesday night, Manhattan beach-based company Walk With Sally packed Santa Monica’s Bodega Bar with current supporters, curious newbies, and of course founder, Nick Arquette for a night of food, drink, and call to action.
Walk With Sally (named in honor of Nick’s mother, who passed when he was a teenager) provides companionship for children that have gone through the pain of watching their sibling or parent suffer with cancer.
Walk With Sally is facilitated through free of charge mentoring support programs and services that provide an emotionally safe environment for children to share their difficult experience with someone who has suffered the same.
The mixer at Bodega Bar was intended to promote Walk With Sally’s upcoming fundraising event in March, Bowl-a-Prom.
Bowl-a-Prom will be another fun event for attendees as it includes food from various supporting restaurants in Manhattan beach, as well as costume, games, and an encouraging environment where no donation is too small.
The night kicked off with delicious pizza, bruschetta, and drinks provided by Bodega Bar. Informational discussions, socializing, and networking was enjoyed by all attendees.
Nick Arquette took the floor and thanked everyone for the support, and invited all to attend Bowl-a-Prom.
From my experience, Walk With Sally is a success on all statements.
