An 18-year-old female from Paris, France was arrested on Thursday Feb. 27 after attacking her boyfriend with a kitchen knife, cutting his wrist.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to an area hospital at 11:15 pm on this day to investigate a case of an assault that had been committed upon a man by his girlfriend.
Upon arrival the officers spoke with the man who told them what had happened.
He claimed that he had returned home at about 7:30 pm and discovered his girlfriend was asleep in bed.
He had made the decision at that time to wake her up.
She responded to this by sitting up in the bed and punching him in the face.
He told the officers that at that point he had inquired why she had assaulted him.
She allegedly responded by claiming that she had no recollection of hitting him at all.
The girlfriend had then fallen back to sleep and at that point the boyfriend had made the (unwise?) decision to wake her up a second time.
The girlfriend responded to this second awakening by yelling out at the boyfriend, leaping out of the bed, running to the kitchen, grabbing a knife and charging at the boyfriend.
The boyfriend raised his arms as an act of protection and was subsequently cut on his left wrist.
He told the police that his girlfriend had immediately apologized.
After leaving the hospital the officers accompanied this man to his residence where they met his girlfriend.
Luckily she was awake, so the officers arrested this 18-year-old resident of Paris, France and she was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
Bail was set at $50,000.
