Santa Monica College Faculty Association Donates $5,000 To Education Foundation:

A check for $5

The Santa Monica College Faculty Association, the professional union for the faculty members at Santa Monica College, donated $5,000 to the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation at its Pier Party on Sunday.

The event is the Foundation’s yearly event to raise funds for all schools in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, and the Faculty Association presented the check during the event.

The Faculty Association regularly participates in community activities but found a special kinship with the SMMEF, since they have similar missions to ensure a vibrant educational experience for all students.

The SMC Faculty Association does this by ensuring that all of Santa Monica College’s faculty members can educate students in a work environment conducive to learning.

Tom Peters, the Faculty Association’s Political Director, presented the check to the Educational Foundation’s leadership at the event.

“The work the Foundation is doing is really a service to the entire community. We’re proud to support this great cause,” Peters said. “It was also great to share the experience with our friends and family, and have them take part in the fun.”
