Cell phone photography. Italian for Travelers. Mini-mosaic jewelry. These are just some of the new classes being offered this summer by Santa Monica College Community Education.
Registration is now open for a selection of 120-plus classes, workshops and tours for the summer session, which begins June 23.
In addition, Community Ed is offering a 10 percent Early Bird Discount on a wide range of summer camps for youth and teenagers.
“We’re excited about our robust offerings this summer that will keep adults, children and families engaged mentally, physically and artistically,” said Alice Meyering, Program Coordinator of Community & Contract Education.
New classes and tours include – aside from those mentioned above – “Eat Well, Live Better – Women’s Health Seminar,” Hand Embroidery, Stamped-Metal Jewelry, Guitar and an “Adventure in Arrowhead” lakeside tour and lunch.
Six-week summer camps for youth (ages 12 and up) are Chinese and Spanish Boot Camps. New this year are the following one-week camps: “Tech Builder’s App Design,” “Filmmaking: From Script to Premiere,” and “Animation Creations: Computer Animation,” and three printmaking sessions.
Classes returning to the schedule are in health and fitness, computers and internet, arts, writing, languages, music, business and more. Some courses are offered online.
In addition, Community Education is offering an extensive collection of Professional Development courses in many disciplines, including business and finance, health professions, social work, entrepreneurship, and more.
