California Highway Patrol officers will be out in force this Fourth of July weekend, beginning today, on the lookout for people driving while impaired.
“Our goal is to use education and enforcement to get the message out: to be responsible this weekend,” said CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow. “We want everyone to have a treat Independence Day weekend, but was also want you to do it safely and responsibly.”
The “maximum enforcement period” will begin at 6 p.m. and continue through 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
During that time, all available officers around the state will be deployed to patrol the roadways.
