Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Captures Top Spot At Box Office For Second Week:

The summer of movie remakes continues, with the new version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles taking in a modest $28.4 million this weekend, good enough to capture the number one spot at the North American box offices.

Studio estimates released today indicate the “Turtles” remake has passed the $100 million mark in its second weekend of exhibition.

Number two this weekend was Guardians Of The Galaxy with $24.7 million, according to studio estimates gathered by Rentrak.

In third place was Let’s Be Cops, with a weekend take of $17.7 million. Add in Wednesday and Thursday nights, and it has grossed $26.1 million since its midweek opening.

Two new movies took fourth and fifth places: Expendables 3 opened with $16.2 million in receipts, and The Giver had a $12.8 million premiere weekend.
