Repairs Start Monday Along PCH In Malibu:

The strong waves that damaged Malibu’s landmark pier this month also ate away at rocks next to one section of Pacific Coast Highway, and repairs will start Monday.

Caltrans issued a warning today that one eastbound lane on PCH will be closed for four hours Monday for one half mile at La Tuna Beach, at Malibu’s eastern end between Big Rock and Topanga Creek.

Temporary K-rail concrete barriers near the highway must be repositioned to prevent them from falling into the ocean, state officials said.

One lane of eastbound PCH will be blocked off from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday, as Caltrans crews repair the damage.

The erosion is at La Tuna Beach County Park, a stretch of rocky bluffs that has been battered by the sea for decades. It is the only large parking and public access point along the ocean in eastern Malibu.
