The Grant PTA will hold a Town Hall-style meeting tonight, Oct. 14 to help the community better understand the two airport ballot measures, “LC” and “D,” and to make a recommendation to the wider community that reflects the views of Grant parents on this important issue.
The special meeting of the Grant PTA will be held at 6:30 pm in the Grant Auditorium.
Grant PTA President Greg Barker said there will be a Town Hall-style discussion with representatives from both the LC and D campaigns, which he will moderate, plus a chance for everyone to express their views, followed by a vote on each measure.
“This will be a public forum, in the spirit of open, civil discussion, that I hope will set an example to our children of how democracy is best served by an engaged, informed public,” Barker said. “Grant is the closest Santa Monica school to the airport, and I think we have a unique opportunity to help raise awareness of these complicated and sometimes confusing ballot measures for our entire city. The general public will also be welcome to attend, though only Grant PTA members may vote.”
Grant Elementary is located at 2368 Pearl Street, Santa Monica.
