No Arrests Made During “BlackOutHollywood Against Police Brutality” Protest:

Hundreds of people shut down a busy Hollywood intersection Saturday during a protest against the police and the deaths of unarmed black men at the hands of officers in Los Angeles, New York and Ferguson.

The protest, which organizers dubbed “BlackOutHollywood Against Police Brutality,” began at noon at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Argyle Avenue.

Many of the protesters wore black as they blocked the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue, where Los Angeles police fatally shot a an allegedly knife-wielding man Friday night.

By about 1:30 p.m., they had moved east along Hollywood Boulevard and the intersection at Highland was reopened.

No arrests were reported, but the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Bureau was on a modified tactical alert with police closely monitoring the march, said Officer Sally Madera of the department’s Media Relations Section.
