Latest police, crime and courts news.

A businessman who was shot twice in the upper body while sitting behind the wheel of a brand new Rolls Royce in Hollywood was today identified as Cameron Segal.

Los Angeles Police Department Lt. Scott Murray said Segal was around 40 years old, and in stable condition in a hospital.

Segal was shot as he waited in his vehicle for a friend who was to drive with him to downtown Los Angeles to purchase a $5 million building, the unidentified friend told NBC4.

The shooting occurred in a parking alley behind the 7600 block of Sunset Boulevard at 8:40 p.m. Friday.

NBC4 quoted police at the scene as saying Segal had been targeted by his assailant.

Police said the suspect rode away from the scene on a 10-speed bike after shooting Segal in the chest and the face.

LAPD Officer Raymond Conboy described the suspect as a black male in his late 30s or early 40s, wearing a blue jacket and tan pants. Conboy said the suspect was 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, and was wearing a backpack.

Broadcast reports described Segal’s vehicle as a silver Rolls Royce with paper plates.

The unidentified friend described Segal to NBC4 as a property manager and philanthropist.
