“Birdman,” “Boyhood” Big Winners At 20th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards:

“Birdman,” and “Boyhood” were the big winners at tonight’s 20th annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, staged at the Hollywood Palladium.

“Birdman” — the story of a washed-up actor trying to revive his career — won seven awards, two of them, Best Actor and Best Comedy Actor, for star Michael Keaton.

“Boyhood” — a film 12 years in the making about a boy and girl coming of age — won four trophies, including Best Picture and Best Director for director Richard Linklater, Best Supporting Actress for Golden Globe winner Patricia Arquette and Best Young Actor/Actress for Ellar Coltrane.

Another Golden Globe winner, Julianne Moore, also continued a win streak by taking home the Best Actress honors for her role in “Still Alice.”

The same went for Globe winner J.K. Simmons, who captured the Best Supporting Actor prize for his  work in the movie, “Whiplash.”

“‘The Grand Budapest Hotel” won three Critics’ awards, among them Best Comedy.

Ron Howard received a Genius Award and Kevin Costner was given a Lifetime Achievement Award. Jessica Chastain was recipient of the inaugural MVP Award for her work in multiple films during the year.
