Hiker Rescued In Santa Monica Mountains By Group Of Mountain Bike Riders:

A hiker who went missing in the Santa Monica Mountains was rescued by a group of mountain bike riders, authorities said today.

The 21-year-old woman was reported missing around 7 p.m. Thursday, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lt. A.J. Rotella said.

She had left her vehicle at the intersection of Mulholland Highway and Las Virgenes Road around midday Thursday to hike into Malibu Creek State Park to film the sunset, he said.

The hiker got lost trying to find her way back, and Malibu Search and Rescue was summoned to find her, Rotella said.

Instead, she was found by a group of mountain bikers, who walked her back to her vehicle around 8:35 p.m. he said.

The woman was unharmed, Rotella said.
