Kat and the Blues Hounds will perform a free show at Sonny McLean’s Irish Bar in Santa Monica from 9 pm to 12:30 am tonight, March 27.
The band features various incarnations with instrumentation changing from month to month.
“Musicians schedules vary, so we have to adjust accordingly,” said blues dynamo Kathy Leonardo.
Standing 4’11”, this blues Mama (as she is often referred to by band members and fans alike) has a huge voice.
She went on to explain that since she performs in so many bands (five) most of the musicians are familiar with the music in all her bands.
“It makes for a really fun show…swapping musicians in and out keeps it real,” she said. “It never gets boring and keeps everyone on their toes.”
This month’s gig will also feature guest guitarist and singer Greg Cruz. Known for his incredible tribute to “Johnny Cash,” Cruz will be performing some country as well.
