The Santa Monica College Theatre Arts Department will present “Elephant’s Graveyard” starting this Friday, March. 20 at the Theatre Arts Main Stage on the SMC main campus, 1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica. Performances will continue through March 29.
“Elephant’s Graveyard” is based on the true tale of a struggling circus and what happened when it visited a tiny town in Tennessee in September 1916. The play explores the human craving for spectacle by combining historical fact and the compelling events that eventually became a legend.
Written by George Brant, “Elephant’s Graveyard” won the 2008 Keene Prize for Literature and the 2008 David Mark Cohen National Playwriting Award. The SMC production is directed by Terrin Adair-Lynch.
