A 58-year-old homeless man was hauled off to Santa Monica Jail on Thursday, May 21, after stealing a cup of coffee from a donut store.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department received a report at 9:45 am from the manager of DK Donuts at 1614 Santa Monica Blvd. that a man had just stolen a cup of coffee.
When they arrived the officers spoke with the best replica watches manager who told them that a man, judged to be aged about 60 years, had entered the store, poured himself a cup of coffee, and had left without paying. The officers quickly found the suspected coffee thief standing in front of a nearby business.
Initially this suspect had refused to follow the officers’ instructions to put the coffee down (nice and slow) but after they had detained and handcuffed the man he had spontaneously requested that the officers release him with a warning.
The man added that he would most certainly return to DK Donuts and pay for the coffee if the officers let him go.
The manager of DK Donuts requested that charges be brought against this man.
After the manager had signed a private persons arrest form the officers took this man off to jail and he was charged with shoplifting. Bail was set at $5,000.
