One of the runways at Los Angeles International Airport will be closed over the summer and parts of the fall starting today due to federally mandated construction, airport officials said.
The outboard runway 24R/6L at the north runway complex is being taken out of commission for 113 days, from June 29 until Oct. 19, as the airport perform upgrades to create more room for safe landing and departures of airplanes.
The construction work will likely result in flight delays comparable to those occurring during bad weather, officials said.
