Residents Invited To Santa Monica Civic Working Group Workshop This Saturday:

The community is invited to join the Civic Working Group (CWG) this Saturday, June 13 to comment and provide feedback on the preliminary recommendations that the CWG members have developed over the course of an 18 month community visioning process. It will be held from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.

These draft documents tie together the community’s input with the Civic Working Group’s

“The CWG has developed draft Guiding Principles for the future of the Civic Auditorium and its site which we will be presenting to the public for comment,” said CWG Chair Nina Fresco. “They address the moving parts that would be adjusted one way or another based on where the funding ends up coming from by defining the outer limits of what could be built, and re-enforcing advocacy for the features that have the most support in the community.”

The Civic Working Group will continue to meet monthly over the summer and will incorporate the community’s feedback from this workshop into their final report and recommendations which are anticipated to go to Council in October, 2015.

This event is the third in a series of community workshops. The first workshop was held in September 2014.

The second, in January 2015, introduced an on-line trade-off tool that was designed to demonstrate the costs associated with the renovation of Civic Auditorium and other possible components on the site, and to give participants the ability to both choose among those components as well as choose preferred methods replica watches of funding.

Led by a City Council appointed Working Group, the community planning process has brought together a broad array of stakeholders to explore options for the future of the facility that will ensure the Civic Auditorium remains a signature cultural resource for Santa Monica.

No reservations are required for the workshop, which will be held at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, East Wing, 1855 Main Street, Santa Monica.

Doors will open at 9 am and refreshments will be offered throughout the morning. For disability-related accommodations or language interpretation requests, call 310.458.8350.

Free car and bike parking will be available. For more information about the Civic planning process go to www.santamonicacivic.org.
