Dear Editor,
The Past, the Present and the Future: For four years The Committee for Racial Justice has been working for greater racial equity in the Santa Monica school system. We have won some battles and lost some. Some we are still fighting. One thing is for sure: it’s been a learning experience.
In this month’s CRJ workshop today on Nov. 1 we will reflect on lessons learned and use them, first, to revise, refine and expand our goals and, second, to reconsider, revamp, and fortify the strategies we are using to pursue these goals.
Join us to hear about current student outcomes and help set the outcomes we want for the future. We’ll need to examine methods and Best Practices and also work on which bold steps must be taken and which strategies will be most effective.
WE CAN’T WAIT ANY LONGER. WE WANT ACTION NOW!
The program will start with a brief update on issues raised at the last workshop about racial profiling and use of excessive force by police.
