In preparation of the opening of the Expo Line, Metro, Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Fire Department, and California Public Utilities Commission will be conducting a safety exercise at the Expo Line Phase 2 station at Expo/Bundy this Thursday, Dec. 17 from 9 am to 1 pm.
This exercise will simulate an “Active Shooter” situation and multiple casualties.
This drill will provide the rare opportunity to train for emergency situations within a controlled environment.
Access by the general public or anyone not associated with the exercise is prohibited.
People within the area will see Metro, LAPD, LAFD EMT personnel and vehicles, three body dummies and back packs on the station platform as part of the simulation. Passersby may also hear shouting and laser tag guns.
The exercise is occurring entirely within the station. Surrounding traffic should not be affected. No alternate routes are necessary.
This is a staged and scheduled emergency drill by Metro and outside emergency agencies within a controlled situation. This emergency drill has received the necessary approvals.
