Latest Santa Monica Museum of Flying news.

The Museum of Flying will be hosting a rededication ceremony for the DC-3 Monument located directly adjacent to the Museum today at 10:30 am.

Today marks the 80th anniversary of the first flight of the legendary DC-3 aircraft from the airfield here at the Santa Monica Airport.

Originally completed and dedicated in early 2009, the Monument required a refurbishment due to various factors.

The project was a partnership between the City of Santa Monica, the Museum of Flying, and the Employees Community Fund of Boeing California.

In addition to the rededication ceremony, a special flyover has been arranged during the ceremony.

The Museum of Flying will also be holding an Open House for the day from 10 am until 5 pm.

The rededication ceremony and admission to the Museum will be free to the public on this very special day.

Seating will be limited for the rededication ceremony.

The Museum of Flying is located at 3100 Airport Avenue, Santa Monica, CA 90405
