Transplant Games – Team Southern California (Team SoCal) came together Friday to celebrate the countdown to the 2016 Donate Life Transplant Games of America at Ocean View Park in Santa Monica, CA.
Members of Santa Monica Police and Fire Department joined in the festivities with Santa Monica Police Chief Seabrooks and Fire Chief Evaro adding their names to the flag.
The flag will now travel across the country for signatures from the more than 40 participating teams nationwide.
The flag will then return to Cleveland, Ohio where it will fly over the Cleveland Public Auditorium during the Opening Ceremonies of the 2016 Donate Life Transplant Games of America.
The Donate Life Transplant Games of America is a multi-sport festival event that celebrates organ, corneal, and tissue donation. More than 3,000 participants from across the United States will travel to Cleveland for the six day event this summer. Competitions include track and field events, swimming, cycling, badminton, bocce, bowling, basketball, volleyball, youth olympiad and non-traditional events including ballroom dancing, cornhole, trivia challenge and Texas Hold Em.
A public 5K Run/Walk will launch the event to promote the need for more organ donors. The Donate Life Transplant Games of America will take place in Cleveland, Ohio June 10 -15, 2016.
