The SMMUSD Board of Education will hold a special meeting today as well as an open meeting so the community can have a say on the recruitment of a new superintendent.
BOARD MEETING
The SMMUSD Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Thursday, June 16, at 4 pm in the district office board room (1651 16th Street, Santa Monica).
During this retreat, the Board of Education will meet with staff and Dr. Pedro Noguera to identify and define necessary next steps in implementing the equity plan and creating a process for the Board to monitor and evaluate the plan’s effectiveness.
Prior to the open session at 4 pm, there will be a special closed session from 2 – 4 pm in the board conference room, during which the Board of Education will interview potential interim superintendent candidates.

The next regular board meeting will be on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 5:30 pm in the district office board room.
SUPERINTENDENT
The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education is conducting a confidential search for the next district superintendent and is seeking input from parents, teachers, students and community stakeholders.
Two public meetings are slated for Thursday June 16, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm at John Muir Elementary School in Santa Monica and Malibu High School.
A Spanish translator will be available at both sites. No reservation is required.
