Man Down in Santa Monica:

A man surrounded by police lays in the middle of Neilson Way Wednesday.

Guns were drawn as LAPD sped to the scene Wednesday morning which saw a man throw himself to the ground with arms splayed.

Onlookers report that additional LAPD cars quickly descended on the intersection of Neilson Way and Marine Street, Santa Monica, with officers jumping out of their cars and running toward the site with guns drawn.

While the incident occurred in Santa Monica, SMPD told The Mirror that no SMPD officers were involved, and that most likely a chase from Venice or further south came to a head just a few feet from the Venice/Santa Monica boarder.

LAPD Pacific Division told The Mirror that no “major incident” was reported, indicating that it could have been a felony stop in which nothing untoward happened and that often appears to the public much more serious that it actually is.
