Community Climate Action Summit on October 29 Lays the Groundwork for Carbon Neutral Santa Monica: Santa Monica community is invited to help shape future environmental policy

On October 29, the City of Santa Monica and local partners invite residents, business leaders, and policy experts to the Community Climate Action Summit.  This event offers everyone the opportunity to come and collaborate on the next stage of Santa Monica’s climate policy. The Summit is part of a ground-up visioning process that will eventually result in the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP), a framework that will launch in late 2017, with goals to be met by 2050. The Summit follows recent City climate policy successes in carbon emission reductions.

“Santa Monicans are incredible stewards of the environment and have made leaps in reducing our carbon emissions, using solar, switching to electric vehicles and public transit, and much more,” said Mayor Tony Vazquez. “This is the beginning of the next chapter in our environmental leadership, and it’s imperative that the community build this plan with us to imagine what a carbon neutral Santa Monica might look like.”
