The Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce will hold its 22nd Annual New Heroes Celebration at St. Monica’s Grand Pavilion on Wednesday, October 19.

The Annual New Heroes Celebration is an opportunity for the business community and city to welcome Santa Monica’s newest educators, firefighters and police officers, according to the Chamber.

At the celebration, a select few will be presented with Inspirational Hero Awards for their tremendous contributions and outstanding work in the community. The honorees this year are Wendell Shirley, Tish Tisherman and Jacob Hammersly.

Shirley has participated in countless events and activities centered on helping, mentoring and serving as a role model for youth including job preparation interviews, motivating and inspiring youth through his own life story, being a guest speaker and more.

Tish Tisherman founded and grew, Staff Support, Inc, into a mult-million dollar staffing business in 1988. After selling her client list and payroll in 2004, she has focused her efforts on full time recruiting, coaching and consulting for the SMCC Foundation. Today, Tisherman has coached and mentored kids of all ages for over twenty years teaching them about topics such as first impressions, life skills, goal setting and how to navigate the world of business.
