The City of Santa Monica will host Sunday Oct.1, the second year of COAST, an open streets event that is aimed at getting people walking, biking, skating, and scooting through two miles of activated streets. The route covers Ocean Avenue from Wilshire Boulevard to Tongva Park, and Main Street from Colorado to Pier Avenues.
Along the route, participants will experience live music and performances, local food, art installations, exciting restaurants, one-of-a-kind shops, promotions on the Pier, and unique areas promoting mobility, art, and sustainability, according to the City.
“We encourage participants to bike, walk, take Big Blue Bus or Expo to COAST. Free bike valets will be available along the route,” the City said.
Last year marked Santa Monica’s first open streets event as part of the opening of the Expo Light Rail connecting Downtown L.A. to Downtown Santa Monica. COAST drew more than 50,000 people to experience Expo and safely explore Santa Monica.
“The City is excited for year two of this event that connects us to the many ways of getting around in Santa Monica, and to each other,” the City said.
