Want to Help the Homelessness Issue in Santa Monica?

Santa Monica’s Homeless Steering Committee is meeting tomorrow, June 20, and is inviting all residents to have their voices heard.

According to Santa Monica City, in Santa Monica there was a 4% increase in homelessness last year, with new outreach workers working to serve 441 people since mid-March.

“Service providers like West Coast Care are working every day to connect people to services and housing with 298 finding permanent shelter or a family member to take them in. Our Santa Monica Public Library has new Library Service Officers and a social worker on the way. Downtown Santa Monica Ambassadors have been helping keep our shared public spaces welcoming to all,” the City said.

The Homeless Steering Committee meets tomorrowJune 20, 6 p.m. at St. Monica’s Church. There are openings to join a subcommittee focused on:

  1. Public safety
  2. Open spaces
  3. Volunteer and engagement
  4. Advocacy for mental health, housing and employment
