Best Sandals To Wear In Sunny California’s Top Beaches

Whether you’re a California resident or planning a trip to the west coast, having the proper footwear is vital. The warmer climate year-round makes it the perfect destination to wear sandals. You can let your feet breathe, let your toes hang out, get around comfortably, and showcase your fashion sense. While there are plenty of sandals to choose from, this list of trendy footwear is perfect for California weather.

Trail Sandals

If you plan to take a hike in Santa Monica or walk the Venice Beach boardwalk, you’ll want to wear a pair of trail sandals. These are durable sandals with arch and ankle support for added comfort and protection. The sandals also have clasps to keep your shoe secure during long walks across various terrains. Trail sandals also come in multiple colors and patterns to pair with your outfit.

Flip Flops

When you’re heading to La Jolla beach for a day of tanning, swimming, or picnicking with friends and family, a pair of flip-flops is all you need for your excursion. They’re flat, comfortable, and provide protection from the hot sand. Flip-flops are also versatile enough to transition to the boardwalk, local restaurants, and shops for even more entertainment. They’re compact enough to place in your beach bag and light enough they won’t weigh you down. Not to mention, there’s no shortage of colors and patterns to match your swimwear.

Slides

Sometimes, you need something a bit more durable and fashionable than a flip-flop when visiting popular California beach destinations. If you’re going to attend a beach event, explore the nightlife, or enjoy a meal at a more upscale restaurant, you’ll want a pair of women’s slide sandals. They come in materials like durable rubber or leather and can have a slight heel or wedge to give your legs a bit more length. Whether you prefer solids, neutrals, or animal print and fur, there’s a slide sandal with your name on it.

Closed-Toe Waterproof Sandals

If you plan on participating in a water activity like kayaking at Laguna beach, then wearing a pair of closed-toe waterproof sandals is ideal. They’re made from breathable materials, and the designs allow for proper air circulation, so you’re not sweating by the end of the day. Closed-toe waterproof sandals also have velcro, snap, or hook straps to keep the shoe secure on your foot while you splash away in the water.

Cork Wedge Sandals

Are you meeting up with friends for a late-night drink and dancing at one of San Diego’s beachside bars? You can’t go wrong with a pair of cork wedges. They elongate the legs for a bit of sex appeal without all the pain and complication of heels or stilettos. The natural cork materials also add comfort and better shock absorption, so you can dance the night away without taking your shoes off.

Stylish Flats

What’s a beach vacation without some retail therapy? If you’re heading to the famous beach town known as Carlsbad, throw on a pair of stylish flats. They pair well with shorts and a tank top, sundresses, or skinny jeans and a t-shirt for chiller days. You can find strappy flats in just about any material, color, and style to meet your fashion needs. Flats aren’t only cute; they’re also durable enough to provide support as you bounce from one shop to the next.

When it comes to some of the best beaches in the US, California ranks high on the list of coastal states. They have miles of beach communities with diverse activities to appeal to all ages and interests. Whether you want to soak up the sun, play volleyball, go kayaking, explore boardwalks, hop on a boat, dance, eat, or shop, there’s a beach waiting for you.

Of course, if you’re going to have a positive experience, wearing the appropriate footwear is a must. Use the above sandal types to determine which footwear works best for your Californian beach getaway.
