Former Bank Building in Santa Monica Becomes a Food Destination with Addition of Katsu Bar

By Dolores Quintana

Katsu Bar has put up signs announcing that they will be opening a new location in what used to be a Bank of America at 3032 Wilshire as reported by Toddrickallen.com. Katsu Bar’s website says of their restaurant, “Developed and perfected in Los Angeles, CA, Katsu Bar opened its first location in Cerritos, CA.  Our goal is to bring Japanese Katsu to cities across the United States and beyond.”

Katsu is fried meat crusted with Japanese Panko crumbs or tori katsu, usually chicken. On the restaurant’s menu are Katsu “sandos”, the enormously popular Japanese sandwich style with crustless milk bread, which is so soft. You can also find curries, noodles, including udon, and Korean Gang Jung on their menu.

Several restaurants have moved into the space like Oakberry, which makes acai bowls and smoothies, and Paderia, a Portuguese bakery specializing in tarts.
