By Sam Catanzaro

With the arrival of spring, Californians are gearing up for road trip season and exploring unique vehicle options. One option: a school bus the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District is currently auctioning off, a 2002 Blue Bird All-American 84-Passenger School Bus that can be converted into the ultimate camper for road trips. This online auction, open to the public at municibid.com, will end on Monday, April 24th.

The 84-passenger transit-style bus comes equipped with a John Deere CNG engine, Allison World Transmission with integrated retarder, lap belts, and child check system installed. With 262,000 miles on it, the bus also has CNG tanks that are good until March 2036.

This unique opportunity has caught the attention of travel enthusiasts and DIY fanatics who are eager to convert this bus into their dream road trip vessel. The winning bidders can customize the bus to their heart’s desire, adding features such as a kitchen area, sleeping area, TV, meditation space, and more, making it a unique and personalized road trip experience.

Apart from the excitement of owning a converted school bus, the auction holds significance as all the proceeds from the sale will directly benefit the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. With 100 percent of the proceeds going back to the local school district, these funds can be utilized for school supplies, educational programs, and other improvements, making it a win-win situation for both the buyers and the community.

Interested buyers can participate in the auction at municibid.com until April 24th and potentially embark on an exciting adventure in their very own converted school bus.
