Tomato Tasting Competition Coming to Ishihara Park

There Is No Limit to Entries for the Event Which Is Open to All Residents.

Judges will decide who has grown the “Best Tomato in Santa Monica” this weekend on Aug. 19 at the fourth annual Tomato Tasting Competition at Ishihara Park located at 2909 Exposition Blvd.

Everything from Black Krims, Sun Golds, Green Zebra Purple Cherokee, Big Rainbows, Amish Paste and Mortgage Lifters tomatoes are expected to be on display. There is no limit to entries for the event which is open to all residents. Tomatoes must be registered by 9:30 a.m. with judging starting at 10 a.m.

Residents who don’t grow tomatoes are still welcome to enjoy sweet and savory pancakes, a tour of the garden, or serve as an honorary judge.
