Malibu Volunteers on Patrol Quell Car Fire, Prevent Brush Blaze

VOPs Respond Quickly to Incident on Kanan Dume Road.

Malibu Volunteers on Patrol Unit 100V3 responded to a car fire report on Kanan Dume Road on  Saturday afternoon, ensuring no injuries and preventing a potentially disastrous brush blaze.

The incident, reported around 1:40 p.m., saw VOPs arrive first on the scene. They promptly provided critical radio traffic updates to incoming units for pinpoint location accuracy. Upon arrival, they discovered debris in a pickup truck had ignited, with the driver having unloaded the burning material onto the roadside.

Equipped with water and chemical fire extinguishers, the VOPs acted swiftly, extinguishing the blaze and effectively containing it, preventing its spread to nearby brush. Los Angeles County Fire Department—Division VII 72 and Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station deputies arrived shortly after to support efforts.

The VOPs seamlessly managed traffic control until the scene was fully cleared, showcasing their preparedness and community service commitment.

Each Malibu VOP vehicle is outfitted with specialized firefighting equipment, and volunteers undergo thorough training in its proficient use. This preparedness was pivotal in averting a potential disaster.

Recruitment opportunities are available for those interested in contributing to community safety and service like the Malibu Volunteers on Patrol. For more information, contact Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station Volunteers on Patrol via direct message or email at malibuvop@gmail.com.
