Expect Delays: PCH Lane Closures in Malibu Begin Friday and One Lane Closure Continues Next Week

Caltrans Schedules Rock Scaling Work, Announces a Week-Long 24/7 Lane Closure

Motorists traveling along Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) in Malibu on Friday, Nov. 15, should prepare for intermittent lane closures between Corral Canyon Road and Latigo Canyon Road.

Caltrans District 7 announced that northbound and southbound lanes will be impacted from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. as crews conduct rock scaling work to address safety concerns. Drivers should anticipate delays of up to 30 minutes during the closures.

A late addition to the announcement from Cal Trans notes that the right northbound lane of Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) between Corral Canyon Road and Latigo Canyon Road in Malibu will remain closed 24 hours a day for the next seven days.

Motorists are advised to plan and consider alternate routes, such as U.S. Highway 101, as significant traffic delays are expected. Despite installing K-rails and a rock fence after the storms, this closure is necessary to address recent slide activity and prepare the area for future stability in the winter months. Real-time traffic information and updates on alternative routes are available at QuickMap.

The closures will continue overnight for safety reasons and nearby residents and businesses may experience noise, vibrations, and dust from the maintenance activities.
