The site will feature more than 80 exhibits, including mind-bending installations, 3D holograms, and interactive rooms
A new interactive museum focused on optical illusions and perceptual science is slated to open this fall at 1232 3rd Street on the Third Street Promenade, marking the second California location for the global Museum of Illusions chain following its San Diego debut earlier this year.
Spanning over 12,000 square feet, the Santa Monica site will feature more than 80 exhibits, including mind-bending installations, 3D holograms, and interactive rooms designed to challenge visitors’ understanding of vision and the human brain.
The space will include exclusive exhibits tailored to the city’s character, drawing on its film industry heritage, Art Deco influences, and free-spirited vibe.
The museum, part of a network with nearly 70 locations across 26 countries, aims to educate visitors about the science behind illusions, offering a mix of entertainment and learning. It follows the opening of a San Diego location earlier this year.
The museum will operate Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with the last admission an hour before closing.
