The effort is part of a $70.2 million pavement and sidewalk improvement project on State Route 2
Caltrans will implement lane closures and round-the-clock parking restrictions along portions of Santa Monica Boulevard in West Los Angeles and Alvarado Street in Echo Park beginning Monday, Dec. 1, as part of a $70.2 million pavement and sidewalk improvement project on State Route 2.
From Dec. 1 through Dec. 7:
– In West Los Angeles, one lane in each direction of Santa Monica Boulevard between Wellesley Avenue and Bundy Drive may be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with no parking allowed at any hour in the same stretch.
– In Echo Park, up to two lanes of Alvarado Street between Santa Ynez Street and Sunset Boulevard will be closed weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., dropping to one lane overnight from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m. Parking will be prohibited 24 hours a day along the affected section.
Business driveways will remain accessible during construction, officials said.
The work is part of a broader project to resurface and upgrade curbs, gutters and sidewalks along 5 miles of SR-2 from Centinela Avenue in Santa Monica to the route’s northern terminus in Echo Park. When finished, the improvements are expected to extend pavement life and boost safety for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
