Hit-and-Run Kills Man on Electric Scooter in South LA, Investigation Ongoing

Paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

A man riding an electric scooter was killed in a hit-and-run collision in South Los Angeles, and authorities are searching for the driver who fled the scene, police said.

The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Hoover Street and 75th Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Investigators said a 33-year-old man on an electric scooter was struck by a vehicle. The driver did not stop to provide identification or aid, as required by law, and left the scene.

Paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released the victim’s name pending notification of family members.

Police said detectives with the department’s South Traffic Division are investigating the case. Officials are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Under a city program established in 2015, a reward of up to $50,000 may be available for information leading to the identification and conviction of the driver involved.

The investigation remains ongoing.
