In the world of musical theatre, a “triple threat” is someone who can act and dance and sing, and do all three well. For the D’Andrea family, it has meant having three actor-singer daughters in three different Santa Monica schools: Roosevelt Elementary, Lincoln Middle School, and Santa Monica High School. At last, all the girls are in the same production of Bye Bye Birdie, playing through December 13 at the Morgan-Wixson Theatre. The girls’ father, Frank D’Andrea, said, “Having all three girls in Bye Bye Birdie is easier, not just in terms of driving them around, but because the musical has become a family event. We eat together and talk about the show, we go to see the performances, and their grandparents are even coming from New York, since they can see all the girls perform together.”
