The Santa Monica Police Department and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) joined forces last week on the Third Street Promenade to display the grisly remnants of a fatal crash that occurred at Ocean Park and 25th Street last March. The driver, whose blood alcohol level was three times over the legal limit, hit a median tree at 80mph and was killed instantly. “Hopefully we can turn something good out of something bad by reminding drivers not to drink and drive,” noted Sergeant Larry M. Horn of the SMPD Traffic Division.
