Palisades High will return to Western League play after losing a pair of non-league games, to El Camino Real, 7-2 and to Steele Canyon, 5-1.

The Dolphins, who have won the league championship four straight times, are 2-0 following two shutouts of Venice, which had won seven non-league games to begin the season.

The losses put Venice in a slump. The Gondoliers have lost six straight games after winning their first seven.

Venice followed two league opening losses to Palisades by also losing to South Torrance (7-2), San Pedro (17-6), Verdugo Hills (6-4) and North Torrance (2-0).

St. Monica won a pair of Camino Real League games from St. Bernard, 7-5 and 11-3, improving its overall record to 8-5.

Jose Munoz is batting .545 and has 12 RBI. Kyle Schwan has a .367 average and leads the Mariners in RBI with 13.

Brentwood’s Alpha League record fell to 1-4 when the Eagles lost twice to Calvary Chapel, 8-6 and 10-6. The team’s overall record is 4-6.

MikeyWapnick is hitting .447, Billy Heller .371 and Scott Milne .345.

New Roads lost to Vasquez High of Acton, 13-0. The defeat ended the Jaguars’ two-game winning streak.
