The City of Santa Monica issued this statement Monday:

Notice is hereby given that the Santa Monica City Council meeting on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 has been canceled due to lack of a quorum.

This meeting may be rescheduled to next week, on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, in the Council Chambers, 1685 Main Street, Santa Monica, California.

It was not specified if this lack or quorum was in relation to recent news that Mayor Ken Genser died on Saturday.
