Protest On Tax Day In Santa Monica: Citizens Feel Corporations Aren’t Paying Their Share

Moveon.org put awareness on the streets of Santa Monica that 12 corporations are not paying taxes despite receiving billions in profits. The corporations included General Electric, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs, Exxon-Mobil and Citigroup to name a few.

On fourth and Arizona, 75 protesters lined up outside Bank of America and Wells Fargo on Monday – Tax Day. The protest started with 50-60 people and kept growing, according to organizer and lawyer Ted Vaill.

Vaill said these “deadbeat” organizations not only didn’t have to pay taxes but received rebates from the IRS this year and/or bailouts in the past, according to the sources used at Moveon.org.

“We need to raise taxes for those who aren’t paying now,” Vaill said.
