The Santa Monica Democratic Club will discuss the need for a death penalty moratorium at St. Anne’s Community Room tonight, February 23, at 7 p.m. The featured speaker will be Joanne Berlin, Los Angeles Chapter Coordinator, Death Penalty Focus. She will also circulate a petition addressed to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, calling for a moratorium on executions in California. Also scheduled to speak is a representative from the newly formed Progressive Democrats of America, which Tom Hayden heads.The public is invited to attend the meeting. Refreshments will be served. Free parking is available in the church parking lot at 20th and Colorado.
