Driver Gets Mad, Hits Jaywalker With Car: APB: Bad Attitude?

Santa Monica Police Department officers arrested a Los Angeles woman who, after arguing with a jaywalking pedestrian, used her car to strike the walker.

At 7:44 a.m. on Friday, May 13, Santa Monica police officers were summoned to the 2300 block of Ocean Park Boulevard in response to an incident that had occurred involving a motorist and a pedestrian.

When they arrived, the officers investigated, and determined that the pedestrian had been crossing the street in a jaywalking fashion when the motorist in question turned the corner, accelerated toward the pedestrian, braked, and stopped suddenly, and then began to honk the horn repeatedly.

This act started an argument between the two, and witnesses saw the motorist pull forward in her vehicle and strike the pedestrian with the front of her car. Based on all of the evidence and witness statements, the female driver, a 27-year-old Los Angeles resident, was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Her bail was set at $30,000.
