On Sunday, Oct. 9, at 10:35 a.m. officers received a report of some trouble that involved a screaming woman in the 1700 block of Fifth Street, so they went there.
What they discovered when they got to the location was a man and a woman who were (at least at that time) boyfriend and girlfriend. The officers detained them both, and began to ask questions.
The officers discovered that this pair had become embroiled in an argument as they were traveling in a car, with the boyfriend being the driver. The boyfriend had suddenly braked the car causing the girlfriend to smash her head on the dashboard. Then the boyfriend had attempted to drag the girlfriend from the vehicle, causing a minor injury to her wrist. It was at that point that a witness heard the screaming, and the call to the police was made.
The boyfriend was arrested and taken to jail where he, a 37-year-old Playa del Rey resident, was charged with domestic violence. The bail was set at $50,000.
