A pedestrian was struck and killed in Santa Monica at 5:50 a.m. this morning in a hit-and-run at the intersection of Lincoln and Santa Monica Boulevard.
Santa Monica Police Department Sgt. Richard Lewis said the victim, a white male aged late 50s to late 60s, was walking westbound in the south cross walk on Santa Monica Boulevard crossing Lincoln, apparently against a red light.
Lewis said the suspect was driving southbound Lincoln Boulevard in the number one lane, who went through the intersection, struck the pedestrian in the crosswalk, and failed to stop and remain at the scene.
He said the suspect’s vehicle was a 2009 to 2011 charcoal grey Toyota Camry.
“It’s going to have damage to its right front hood, right front fender, and right front passenger mirror,” Lewis said.
There is no further information available on the male victim.
Lewis said more details would be released later this afternoon.
Anyone with information is urged to call police at 310.458.8495.
