With Parking Structure 6 now scheduled to close at 12:01 a.m. on Feb. 16, 2012 and demolition to begin in March, a community meeting has been scheduled for this Wednesday evening to discuss parking and construction impacts.
Located at 1431 2nd Street, the structure will be rebuilt with more than 700 spaces, roughly doubling what is currently available. The new structure offers many aesthetic and environmental improvements. Construction is expected to be complete in late 2013.
Parking and noise will be a challenge at some points during the rebuild, and the City, Downtown Santa Monica Inc. and the design/builders Morley Construction are making an extra effort to ensure that all disruptions caused by the rebuild are kept to a minimum.
The public is invited to a community meeting at 6 p.m. this Wednesday, Jan. 25, at the Ken Edwards Center (1547 4th Street).
Staff from Finance, Architecture Services, Fire, Police, and the City Manager’s Office and Downtown Santa Monica Inc. will be available to answer questions as will members of the team from design/builder Morley Construction.
