Beyond The Natural Figure. The Santa Monica College Emeritus College Art Gallery spresent “Beyond the Natural Figure,” an exhibit of extraordinary drawings by Los Angeles-based artist Lillian Molina. Beth Shir Shalom Temple has announced Feb. 20, 2012 as the starting date for tours of its pre-kindergarten class. Part of Beth Shir Shalom’s Early Childhood Center (ECC), the class is accredited by the National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Called “Gesher” (Hebrew for “bridge),” the class is also known as “transitional kindergarten,” it is designed for children born in the latter part of the year and those who need an extra year before moving on to kindergarten. Such kindergarten programs are expected to be much more in demand this year, since the LAUSD has recently pushed the birthday cutoff age for kindergarten progressively earlier.
