The Santa Monica Jaycees will award its 2012 Distinguished Service Award for outstanding community volunteerism this Thursday, Oct. 18.
The event will be held at 12 p.m. at the Best Western Gateway Hotel, 1920 Santa Monica Blvd in Santa Monica. The cost of the luncheon is $25. The Santa Monica Lions Club are hosting the Santa Monica Jaycees at their weekly luncheon.
Since 1931, the Santa Monica Jaycees have honored outstanding young individuals in the community for their commitment to volunteer service.
Each year the Jaycees solicit nominations from service clubs and non profit organizations throughout the area. One outstanding individual is named the recipient of this honor.
“The Santa Monica Jaycees are proud to honor an outstanding young person in Santa Monica each and every year,” said 2011-2012 Jaycees President Savitri Labensart. “We are an organization founded to serve our great community and we are delighted to recognize the hard work and service of others.”
The Santa Monica Jaycees are a non profit service and leadership club for individuals 21-40 years old. For more information about this organization, visit www.smjaycee.com.
