ArtLA.com, the Bergamot Station Arts Center-based art gallery and internet artists promotion company, awarded the grand prize from their Student Artist of the Year Competition on Saturday, Oct. 13.
The prize of $10,000, an Apple Macbook Pro, an Adobe Creative Suite, an Epson Color Printer, a Blick Art Materials $500 gift certificate, and an ArtLA.com Premier Membership was won by Amaryllis Moleski of Oakland, California.
The 2011 Student Artist of the Year Competition had more than 70,000 participants from around the world, with the top five finalists being chosen by the number of votes cast by members of the public.
From these finalists a panel of judges from local art galleries and the interior design establishment selected the winner.
Amaryllis was overjoyed when she learned that she had won the prize, and declared, as tears ran down her cheeks, that it was “a life changing event the she will never forget.”
